Moira Lister (born August 6, 1923 – died October 27, 2007) was a talented actress and writer from South Africa and Britain. She was famous for her work in movies, on stage, and on television.

Early Life and Learning
Moira Lister was born in Cape Town, South Africa. Her parents were Major James Lister and Margaret Hogan. She went to school at the Parktown Convent of the Holy Family in Johannesburg. Moira also studied theatre with Anna Romain Hoffman, who helped start The Johannesburg Repertory Theatre.
Moira's Acting Career
Moira Lister started her acting journey on stage in South Africa. When she was 18, she moved to London and began acting in plays there.
Movies and Big Studios
In 1943, Moira started acting in films. She appeared in many movies over several decades. Some of her most well-known films were made with Ealing Studios, a famous British film company. These included Another Shore (1948), A Run for Your Money (1949), Pool of London (1951), and The Cruel Sea (1953). She also starred in a popular play called The Love of Four Colonels in London's West End in 1951.
Radio and TV Shows
Moira was also a regular on radio. She was part of the first series of the BBC radio comedy Hancock's Half Hour from 1954 to 1955. She also played a girlfriend in A Life of Bliss and Felicity Willow in Mr Willow's Wife.
On television, Moira starred in the BBC series The Whitehall Worrier and The Very Merry Widow between 1967 and 1968. She also appeared in other popular British TV shows like Danger Man and The Avengers. In 1980, she was a guest star in the comedy show Only When I Laugh.
In 1971, Moira was the special guest on the TV show This Is Your Life, where famous people are surprised and celebrated.
Moira continued performing almost until her death. She toured with her own one-woman show about the famous writer and composer Noël Coward. She was also a member of the British Catholic Stage Guild.
Her Family Life
In 1951, Moira Lister married Jacques Gachassin-Lafite, who was a French aristocrat and a Viscount. Jacques was a French army officer, a hero from the Rif War (a conflict in North Africa), and owned a champagne vineyard. They had two daughters named Chantal and Christobel. Moira also had two granddaughters, Christina and Marina.
Moira Lister passed away in 2007 at the age of 84. She and her husband are buried together in the churchyard of St Edward's Catholic Church in Sutton Green, Surrey.

Moira Lister received several awards for her amazing work:
- She won a Naledi Theatre Award for her lifetime achievements in theatre in South Africa.
- She was named Best Actress of the Year in 1971.
