Molen is a small, quiet place in Emery County, Utah, United States. It's what we call an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and people living together, but it doesn't have its own official city government like a town or city would.

Where is Molen?

Molen is located about 2 miles east of a city called Ferron. These two places have always been very close, almost like neighbors. Molen sits at an elevation of about 5,764 feet (1,757 meters) above sea level.

How Molen Started

Molen began to grow around 1878. It started as an extension of Ferron when a man named Michael Molen brought his cattle and horses to the area known as Castle Valley. He settled near Ferron Creek, and more people soon followed.

For a while, Molen was actually called "Lower Ferron" because it was downstream from the main Ferron settlement. Eventually, the community was named Molen, honoring Michael Molen, who was one of the first to settle there.

Life in Molen

Being an unincorporated community, Molen doesn't have its own mayor or city council. Instead, it's part of Emery County, which helps manage services for the area. People in Molen often rely on nearby Ferron for things like schools, shops, and other community services.

Life in Molen is often peaceful, surrounded by the natural beauty of Utah. It's a place where people live close to nature and enjoy a quieter lifestyle.
