Mona's Music Career
The 1970s
In the mid-1970s, Mona Richardson performed in Las Vegas. She also traveled to Singapore, where she sang at the Shangri-La Hotel in May 1967 and the Hilton Hotel in June 1977.
In 1978, she released her album called Mona Richardson with EMI. It was produced by Anders Nelsson, a musician from Hong Kong. The next year, in 1979, her album Disco Dazzler came out. Chris Babida, a producer from Hong Kong, helped create this album.
The 1980s
In 1980, Mona Richardson sang on Sharifah Aini's album Just for You. She contributed to the song "Reunited", which was a big hit for Peaches & Herb in 1978. That same year, Mona came to Australia for a theater tour and decided to make Melbourne her home.
In January 1982, she joined the cast of a play called Barnum in Adelaide, Australia. She played two different roles in the show. First, she gave an amazing performance as Joice Heth. Later, she returned as the Blues Singer, where her performance was described as "brilliant" by The Sydney Morning Herald.
In early 1985, she had a regular singing spot at the Crab Cooker Supper Club in North Melbourne.
