Monica Calhoun (born July 29, 1971) is an American actress. She has starred in many movies and TV shows. Monica is famous for her roles in films like The Best Man (1999) and its sequel The Best Man Holiday (2013). She also appeared in Bagdad Cafe (1987) and The Players Club (1998).

Her Early Life and Education
Monica Calhoun was born Lorine Monica Patrice Calhoun. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 29, 1971. She was the first of two children in her family.
In the late 1970s, Monica moved to California. She started acting when she was in sixth grade. She later attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. This school helps young people learn about acting and other arts.
Her Acting Career Highlights
Monica Calhoun began her acting career in 1985. Her first role was Wanda in the TV movie Children of the Night. She then played Phyllis in the movie Bagdad Cafe (1987). She was the only actor from the movie to join the television series. Her character's name was changed to Debbie for the TV show.
In 1992, Monica played Rebbie Jackson in the TV mini-series The Jacksons: An American Dream. The next year, she had a small part in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. She also acted in the Disney Channel movie The Ernest Green Story. For her role in a CBS Schoolbreak Special called "Different Worlds: A Story of Interracial Love" (1993), she was nominated for an Emmy Award.
Monica also appeared in several TV shows. She was in The Wayans Bros., A Different World, and The Jamie Foxx Show. In The Jamie Foxx Show, she played Jamie Foxx's sister. She also played Linda in the TV movie The Ditchdigger's Daughters (1997).
In 2000, Monica Calhoun played Kerry in the movie Love & Basketball. She also appeared in Trois 2: Pandora's Box and Civil Brand in 2002. In 2003, she played Rachel in the Western film Gang of Roses.
One of her most famous roles is Mia Morgan in The Best Man (1999). Mia is the wife of Morris Chestnut's character. Monica was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for this role in 2000. She returned as Mia in the sequel, The Best Man Holiday (2013).
In 2007, she played Brenda in The Salon. From 2008 to 2010, she worked with director Robert Townsend on Diary of a Single Mom. In 2017, Monica played Patricia Tresvant in The New Edition Story miniseries on BET.
