The Monroe Civic Center is a large building in Monroe, Louisiana. It opened in 1965. It has a big arena with 7,600 seats. Many different events happen here. It's currently home to the Monroe Moccasins ice hockey team. Before that, other teams like the original Monroe Moccasins and the Louisiana Bayou Beast indoor football team played here.
What's Inside the Monroe Civic Center?
The Monroe Civic Center has several cool areas for different activities:
- Civic Center Arena: This is the main part of the Civic Center. It has a huge space, about 44,000 square feet, for shows and exhibits. It can seat 5,600 people, and sometimes even up to 7,200! You can see all sorts of events here, like big concerts, circuses, and rodeos.
- B. D. Robinson Conference Hall: This is one of the three main buildings. It's a 14,000-square-foot hall. People can use it for banquets and meetings. You can even divide the main room into six smaller sections.
- Monroe Convention Center: This part of the Civic Center is perfect for meetings, banquets, and trade shows. It's a great spot for groups to gather and share ideas.
- Jack Howard Theatre: This theater can hold over 2,200 people. It's named after W. L. "Jack" Howard, who was the mayor of Monroe for many years. Everyone gets a great view of the stage here.
- Equestrian Pavilion: This area is for horse events. It has a separate warm-up arena for horses and special parking for trailers. This parking even has electricity and other helpful features.

Many famous people have visited the Monroe Civic Center over the years:
- Music Legends:
- The Jacksons played shows here several times in the 1970s. They performed on April 5, 1971, March 3, 1973, and March 12, 1977.
- Ike & Tina Turner and B.B. King performed together on July 8, 1971.
- Elvis Presley had five sold-out shows at the Civic Center between March 1974 and May 1975.
- Political Visits:
- In 2019, President Donald Trump visited the facility. He was there to support Eddie Rispone, who was running for governor of Louisiana.
