Website Sommet Saint-Sauveur

Sommet Saint-Sauveur is a popular ski mountain and resort located in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, Canada. It's about 45 minutes north of Montreal in the beautiful Laurentian Mountains. People often just call it Saint-Sauveur, but it used to be known as Mont Saint-Sauveur.

A Look Back: How Saint-Sauveur Grew

Saint-Sauveur is like the birthplace of skiing in Quebec! It has a long and interesting history.

First Ski Lift

Back in 1934, an American named Fred Pabst set up the very first ski lift here. It was on a spot called Hill 70. Soon, this place became super popular for skiing in eastern North America.

Growing the Mountain

Eleven years later, in 1945, some business people teamed up with Victor Nymark. They formed a company called UPHILL LTD. to make the ski area even better. In 1948, they brought a special T-bar ski lift all the way from Austria and put it on Hill 71. Over the next few years, more ski lifts were added on other hills, from Hill 67 to Hill 72.

Becoming One Big Resort

For a while, the ski area was owned by many different people. But in 1970, a person named Jacques G. Hébert started working to bring all the parts together. Jacques convinced the owners to sell their parts to the ski centre. Slowly, the company bought all the different areas. In just a few years, the company went from renting land to owning it all. This is how the Mont Saint-Sauveur resort was officially created in 1972.

Summer Fun

When the snow melts, the mountain changes! In the summer, the park turns into a fun water park for everyone to enjoy.

What Makes Sommet Saint-Sauveur Special?

Sommet Saint-Sauveur is well-known for a few cool things. It offers amazing night skiing, where you can ski under the stars. It also has one of the longest ski seasons in Quebec, staying open for more than 160 days each year!
