About Montagu Toller's Life

Montagu Henry Toller was born in Barnstaple, Devon, England, on January 1, 1871. His father was William Henry Toller. Montagu went to Blundell's School in Tiverton. There, he was good at sports, playing for both the cricket and rugby teams.

Like his father, Montagu became a solicitor, which is a type of lawyer. In 1901, he married Harriet Jones. Together, they helped manage the Royal & Fortescue Hotel in Barnstaple. Montagu was also active in local government. He was chosen to be on both the County and Town Councils. Later in life, he moved to Brighton and continued his work as a solicitor. He passed away on August 5, 1948, at the age of 77.
