Monte Markham (born June 21, 1935) is an American actor who has been in many movies and TV shows. He also performed on Broadway, which is famous for its live theater shows.

Monte Markham's Early Life
Monte Markham was born in Manatee County, Florida. He was one of four sons. His father was a merchant, which means he bought and sold goods.
Monte went to Palm Beach State College. Later, he earned a master's degree in theater from the University of Georgia. Before becoming a full-time actor, Markham also served for 10 years as an officer in the United States Coast Guard.

Early TV Shows
In 1967 and 1968, he played two characters, Luke and Ken Carpenter, in the TV show The Second Hundred Years. He also appeared as Harry Kellem in the original Hawaii Five-O. From 1969 to 1970, he starred in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, a TV series based on a classic 1936 movie.
Famous Roles and Guest Appearances
Monte Markham played the main character, Perry Mason, in The New Perry Mason from 1973 to 1974. He also appeared in two episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man as a racing car driver named Barney Miller, who became a cyborg.
In 1975, he played two different characters in an episode of Barnaby Jones. He also played a character named Pike in The Invisible Man.
Later, Markham was a guest star on the popular sitcom The Golden Girls. He played Clayton Hollingsworth, the brother of Blanche Devereaux, in two episodes. From 1989 to 1992, he was Captain Don Thorpe, a senior lifeguard, on the hit show Baywatch.
Narrator and Producer
In the 1990s, Monte Markham narrated several documentary series for the History Channel. He also worked as a consultant, director, producer, and narrator for shows like Classroom, The Great Ships, and Air Combat on A&E.
Monte Markham on Stage
One of Monte Markham's first experiences on stage was in 1961. He played Horatio in the play Hamlet at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
In 1973, he made his first appearance on Broadway in the musical Irene. For this role, he won the Theatre World Award, which is given to new actors who make an outstanding debut. He also performed on Broadway in the play Same Time, Next Year in 1975.
