History of Monte Plata
Monte Plata has an interesting history. It was started in 1606 by people from two other towns. These towns were Monte Cristi and Puerto Plata. The king of Spain ordered these older towns to be destroyed. So, 87 families moved and created this new place.
How Monte Plata Got Its Name
The name 'Monte Plata' comes from combining parts of the names of the two original cities. It takes 'MONTE' from Monte Cristi. It takes 'PLATA' from Puerto Plata. This is how the town got its unique name.
Climate and Weather
Monte Plata has a warm and wet climate. It is known as a tropical rainforest climate. This means it gets a lot of rain throughout the year. The temperatures are usually high and stable.
