Montgomery Gentry was a popular American country music duo. They started making music together in 1998. The duo was made up of two singers, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, both from Kentucky. They were known for their exciting sound, which mixed country music with Southern rock.
They even worked with famous artists like Charlie Daniels and Toby Keith. In 1999, they won an award at the American Music Awards for being the Favorite New Country Artist. The Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association also named them the 'Duo of the Year' in 2000. They were nominated for this award almost every year until 2016!
In 2009, they became members of the famous Grand Ole Opry, a big honor in country music. Sadly, Troy Gentry passed away in a helicopter accident on September 8, 2017, when he was 50 years old.
