Exploring Montmajor's Unique Geography
Montmajor has a very interesting shape on the map! It's not just one big area. Instead, it's made up of four separate parts, called "enclaves." Think of an enclave as a piece of land that belongs to one town but is completely surrounded by other towns.
The Main Area of Montmajor
The biggest part of Montmajor is located to the east of a town called Navès. Navès is in a different region known as Solsonès. This main area is where most of Montmajor's residents live and where the town center is found.
Catllarí: A Northern Enclave
To the north, you'll find an enclave called Catllarí. This part of Montmajor covers about 5.45 square kilometers (about 2.1 square miles). It's surrounded by three other municipalities: Fígols, Castellar del Riu, and Guixers.
Comesposades: Separated by a Neighbor
Another enclave is Comesposades, which is about 8.01 square kilometers (about 3.1 square miles) in size. This area is separated from the main part of Montmajor by the municipality of L'Espunyola.
Valielles: Surrounded by Solsonès
Finally, there's Valielles. This is the smallest enclave, covering about 3.20 square kilometers (about 1.2 square miles). What makes Valielles special is that it's completely surrounded by the Solsonès region.
