The Les Canadiennes (French: Canadiennes de Montréal) was a women's ice hockey team. They used to be called the Montreal Stars. This team played in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL).
Les Canadiennes were very successful. They won the league championship four times. They also won the Clarkson Cup twice. The Clarkson Cup is the top award in women's hockey in North America. Les Canadiennes won it more than any other team.
Team History
The team started in 2007. Back then, they were known as the Montreal Stars. Many players came from another team called the Montreal Axion. That team used to play in the National Women's Hockey League.
The Montreal Stars had a lot of success early on. They won four regular season championships. They also won two Clarkson Cups in just four seasons.
In 2015, the team changed its name. They became Les Canadiennes. This happened because they formed a close partnership. They teamed up with the NHL's Montreal Canadiens.
