Moorabbin Airport, also known as Harry Hawker Airport, is a busy airport in Mentone, Victoria, Australia. It's mainly used by smaller planes, not the big passenger jets you see at major international airports. The airport even has its own postcode, 3194! It first opened in December 1949.
The airport was almost named "Mentone," but that was too similar to an airport in France. "Cheltenham" was also considered, but it sounded too much like an airport in the United Kingdom. So, they chose "Moorabbin" after a nearby suburb. Today, Moorabbin Airport is the third busiest airport in Australia based on how many planes take off and land there.
