What is Moravian Falls?
Moravian Falls is a special type of waterfall. It's called a "cascade and slide" waterfall. This means the water flows down a rocky slope rather than dropping straight down. The falls are about 42 feet (12.8 meters) tall.
How the Falls Were Formed
The waterfall is found on Moravian Creek. The water flows over a large, solid rock area. At the bottom, the water lands in a deeper part of the creek called a "plunge pool." This is where the water collects after its journey down the falls.
A Mill by the Water
The land around Moravian Falls is owned by a campground. The owners have built a copy of an old watermill right next to the falls. Watermills used to use the power of flowing water to grind grain. It's a cool way to see how people used nature long ago!
