Morris "Mo" Finley (born August 2, 1981) is an American basketball player. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and plays as a point guard. A point guard is like the team's leader on the court. They bring the ball up the court and help set up plays for their teammates. Finley last played for Élan Béarnais Pau-Orthez in France. In 2023, he also started a small modeling career.
College Basketball Journey
Morris Finley played college basketball for the University of Alabama Birmingham. He was part of the school's UAB Blazers team. He is famous for making a game-winning shot in the 2004 NCAA Tournament. This shot helped his team beat Kentucky, which was the top-ranked team in the tournament that year.
Professional Basketball Career
Finley started his professional basketball career in 2004. He joined the Serbia and Montenegro League team Mornar Bar. He was a top scorer in that league during the 2004–05 season, averaging 23.3 points per game.
Playing in Europe
- In 2005, Finley briefly played for the Greek team Olympia Larissa.
- After that, he joined the Belgian team Liège Basket.
- In 2007, he moved to Italy to play for Solsonica Rieti. He was the top scorer in the Italian League that season, averaging 20.3 points per game.
- In 2008, he joined Montepaschi Siena. With this team, he won the Italian Championship in 2009.
- He then moved to Olimpia Milano in 2009. He had a great start with the team, scoring 28 points in one game. He was a key player for Olimpia in both the Euroleague and the Italian League.
- In January 2010, Finley got a muscle strain injury. He missed three months but came back to help Olimpia reach the Finals.
- In 2011, he had knee surgery, which kept him out for most of 2012.
- He returned to play for Fenerbahçe Ülker in Turkey in 2012.
- In January 2013, he signed with Lagun Aro GBC in the Spanish League.
- After taking some time off, he signed with Élan Béarnais Pau-Orthez in the French League in May 2014. He played there until 2015.
