The Chef's Journey
From Waiter to Master Chef
Chef Illario Mosconi was born in Ponte di Legno, a town near Brescia, Italy. When he was 13, he moved to Luxembourg with his family. His first job in a restaurant was as a waiter in Esch-sur-Alzette.
Later, he opened his own first restaurant called Domus. At Domus, he and his wife, Simonetta, worked in the dining room. But Illario had a bigger dream: he wanted to create his own dishes.
Learning from the Best
When he was almost 30, Illario decided to follow his dream. He took cooking classes and trained with a very famous chef named Gualtiero Marchesi. This training happened at a restaurant in Milan, Italy. There, Illario learned how to cook amazing food. He also learned how important it is to pick only the very best ingredients.
This is why Mosconi restaurant imports about 90% of its ingredients from Italy. This special care for ingredients helped Domus earn a Michelin star in 1997. Then, Mosconi restaurant earned its first Michelin star in 2000, and a second one in 2005.
