Mosel is a small, quiet place in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that aren't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger Town of Mosel.
History of Mosel
Mosel has a simple but interesting history. A long time ago, in 1869, a post office was opened here. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This post office helped the community for many years. However, it closed down in 1903.
The community got its name from a famous river in Europe called the Moselle River. In German, this river is spelled "Mosel." So, the people who settled here likely thought of that river when naming their new home. The larger area, called the township, was originally spelled Moselle, just like the river. The community might have been spelled that way too at first.
