Mosheim, Texas facts for kids
Mosheim is a small community located in Bosque County in Central Texas, United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own city government. About 50 people live in Mosheim.
Mosheim's Story: Where It Is and How It Started
Mosheim is located about 7.5 miles west of Valley Mills and 23 miles northwest of Waco.
The area was first settled in the 1850s by Jonathan Dansby and was originally called Live Oak. Later, in 1886, Jeff Howard built the first store, and the community's name changed to Mosheim. The local post office, which helped people send and receive mail, closed in 1976.
In the middle of the 1900s, Mosheim was home to around 200 people. However, by the late 1960s, the population had decreased to about 75 residents.
