Motherwell Shopping Centre is a large outdoor shopping area right in the middle of Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It's a popular place where people can find many different shops. The centre is owned by two companies, Chester Properties and Columbus Capital, who bought it in May 2010. Many local people also call it Motherwell Town Centre.

How Motherwell Shopping Centre Started

From Street to Shopping Hub

A long time ago, the area where the shopping centre now stands was just a part of Brandon Street. After World War II, this street changed. It became a special area just for people walking, not cars. This new walking area was called Brandon Parade.

Later, a new road called Menteith Road was built nearby. This road helped connect the new pedestrian street to other parts of the town.

Becoming a Modern Shopping Centre

The shopping area was later named Brandon Shopping Centre. This happened after a company called CALA Properties bought it. Because of these changes, many big shops from all over the country, like Primark, opened stores there. This made it one of the most popular shopping places in North Lanarkshire.

In October 2013, the centre got a big update. It was made much more modern and was given its current name, Motherwell Shopping Centre.
