Motohiro Yoshida (吉田 宗弘, Yoshida Motohiro, born August 25, 1974) is a former Japanese soccer player. He played as a goalkeeper. After he stopped playing, he became a coach. He is now a goalkeeper coach for Gamba Osaka.

Motohiro Yoshida's Soccer Journey

Motohiro Yoshida was born in Suita, Osaka, Japan, on August 25, 1974. He loved soccer from a young age. After finishing his studies at Keio University, he joined a professional team. This team was Kashiwa Reysol, a club in the top Japanese league, the J1 League.

Starting His Professional Career

Yoshida joined Kashiwa Reysol in 1997. For the first two years, he didn't get to play much. There were other experienced goalkeepers ahead of him. But in 1999 and 2000, he started playing more often. He competed for the goalkeeper spot.

During this time, his team, Kashiwa Reysol, did very well. They won the 1999 J.League Cup in 1999. They also finished in third place in the J1 League in both 1999 and 2000. This was an exciting time for the club and for Yoshida.

Moving to New Teams

After 2000, Yoshida played less for Kashiwa Reysol. In 2003, he moved to Gamba Osaka. This was his hometown club. However, he still found it hard to get playing time.

In 2005, he made another big move. He joined Cerezo Osaka, a rival team to Gamba Osaka. At Cerezo Osaka, Yoshida became the main goalkeeper. He played in every single match for three seasons! In 2005, his team finished in fifth place. Yoshida was even chosen for the "Best Eleven" team that year. This means he was one of the best players in the league.

However, in 2006, Cerezo Osaka had a tough year. They finished near the bottom of the league. This meant they were moved down to the J2 League for the 2007 season. Yoshida continued to play for them in J2.

Later Years and Retirement

In 2008, Yoshida moved to another J2 team, Avispa Fukuoka. He played many games there. In 2009, he was the regular goalkeeper for most of the season.

In 2010, he joined FC Machida Zelvia. This team was in the Japan Football League, which is a lower division. He played many matches for two seasons. His team did well and was promoted to the J2 League for the 2012 season.

Even though his team was promoted, Motohiro Yoshida decided to retire from playing soccer at the end of the 2011 season. He had a long and successful career as a goalkeeper.
