Mount Bohemia

Mount Bohemia is a special ski resort found way up north on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan. It's known for its challenging slopes and lots of natural snow. This resort has two chairlifts and boasts the second-biggest vertical drop in the Midwest, meaning you get a long, exciting ride down the mountain! Mount Bohemia opened its doors in the year 2000 and has 95 different ski runs.

What Makes Mount Bohemia Unique?

Mount Bohemia is different from many other ski resorts. It doesn't use machines to make snow. Instead, it relies completely on the huge amounts of natural snow that fall each winter. This area gets about 250 to 300 inches of snow every year, mostly from something called lake effect snow. This is more snow than any other resort in the Midwest!

Skiing for Experienced Riders

Because Mount Bohemia gets so much natural snow, its ski runs are not groomed. This means the snow is left as it falls, creating deep powder and bumps. This makes the slopes very challenging. For this reason, Mount Bohemia is not the best place for beginners. Most of its runs are rated as "black diamond," which means they are very difficult. You can even find "double black diamond" and "triple black diamond" runs for expert skiers and snowboarders!
