  • Nine Mile is found on Nine Mile Road, between Mount Forest Road and Cody Estey Road, near Wirble Road. This community also had a train station in 1894.

A Look Back at History

The area has a history of small post offices.

  • The Glencoe Post Office opened in 1876. It was likely on the northeast corner of Bay Gladwin Line Road and Townline 16 Road. It only stayed open for two years, closing in 1878.
  • The Mountforest Post Office opened in the Mount Forest community in 1888.
  • Another post office, called Bertie, opened in 1899. A storekeeper named Locius Fogelsanger was its first postmaster.
  • The Bertie post office closed in 1903. The Mountforest Post Office closed much later, in 1955.
