Mount Frankland National Park is a special place in Western Australia. It is a national park found in the South West region. This amazing park is about 327 kilometers (203 miles) south of Perth.

The park is part of a much bigger area called the Walpole Wilderness Area. This larger area was created in 2004. It is known around the world as a "biodiversity hotspot." This means it has many different kinds of plants and animals.

Exploring Mount Frankland National Park

Mount Frankland National Park covers low, rocky hills. These hills are made of a type of rock called granite. The park is located north of the town of Walpole. It is a great place to explore nature.

Amazing Trees and Plants

Most of the park is covered by huge forests. These forests are home to some of the world's tallest trees. You can find karri trees (Eucalyptus diversicolor) here. You will also see red tingle trees (Eucalyptus jacksonii).

The three types of tingle trees grow only in this area. They are found between the park and the coast. Tingle trees are special because they have wide, strong bases. These bases are called "buttresses." This feature shows how moist and wet the park's environment is.

In some open areas, the rain washes away the soil. In these spots, you will find low heathland plants. These plants are tough and can grow where there isn't much soil.

Weather and Rain

The town of Walpole gets a lot of rain each year. It usually receives about 1200 millimeters (47 inches) of rain. Mount Frankland peak is 422 meters (1,385 feet) high. It likely gets even more rain.

Experts think Mount Frankland probably gets around 1500 millimeters (59 inches) of rain each year. Most of this rain falls between May and August. But even in summer, it often has light showers. This makes the park a very green and lush place.
