Mount Howard is found on the Pennell Coast in Victoria Land, Antarctica. This coast is a long stretch of land between Cape Williams and Cape Adare. It's about 15 kilometers (8 nautical miles) southeast of another mountain called Mount Joyce.

Discovery and Naming

Mount Howard was first seen by a famous group of explorers called the Discovery Expedition. This expedition explored Antarctica between 1901 and 1904. The leader of this journey was Captain Robert Falcon Scott.

The mountain was named after Lord Howard de Walden. He was a person who helped Captain Scott with his experiments using sledges. Sledges are like big sleds used to travel over snow and ice.
