Mount Morris facts for kids
Mount Morris is a tall mountain located in the far north of South Australia. It stands about 1,251 meters (or 4,104 feet) high. This makes it the second-highest peak in South Australia! Only Mount Woodroffe, which is nearby and a bit taller at 1,435 meters, is higher.
Both Mount Morris and Mount Woodroffe are part of a group of mountains called the Musgrave Ranges. These ranges are close to the border with the Northern Territory. The rocks that make up Mount Morris are mostly a type of hard rock called granite.

Mount Morris is found about 8 kilometers (or 5 miles) west of a small community called Amaṯa. It's a significant landmark in the area because of its height and location. The mountain's strong granite rock shows how it was formed over millions of years.
How it Got its Name
The name "Mount Morris" was given by an explorer named William Gosse. He was exploring the area and first saw the mountain in July 1873. It was common for explorers to name new places they discovered after people or things important to them.
