Mount Pleasant is in the southeastern part of Izard County. Its exact location is 35°58′45″N 91°46′2″W / 35.97917°N 91.76722°W.

The population of Mount Pleasant has changed over the years. In 1970, there were 346 people. The population grew to 438 in 1980, but then slowly decreased to 353 people by 2020.
Who Lives in Mount Pleasant?
In 2000, there were 401 people living in Mount Pleasant. Most of the people were White. A small number of people were Asian or from two or more races. Some residents were also of Hispanic or Latino background.
The town had 166 households. Many of these households (about 37%) had children under 18 living there. More than half of the households were married couples.

Education
Students in Mount Pleasant attend public schools run by the Melbourne School District.
Mount Pleasant Elementary School was once part of this district. It even received a special award in 2009, being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This award recognizes schools for their excellent academic performance.
However, Mount Pleasant Elementary School officially closed down in 2016. Now, students from Mount Pleasant complete their elementary and secondary education and graduate from Melbourne High School.
Before 2004, Mount Pleasant had its own school district, called the Mount Pleasant School District. On July 1, 2004, this district joined with the Melbourne School District.
