A Glimpse into History

Mount Sterling has a simple but interesting past. One important event was when the Hopewell post office moved there. This happened sometime after the post office was first set up in 1830. Even though it moved, it kept its original name, Hopewell.

Another notable part of Mount Sterling's history is the Tavener-Sears Tavern. This old building, located on Main Street, is very special. In 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes places across the country that are important because of their history, architecture, or what they represent. Being on this list helps protect the tavern and reminds people of its historical value.
