The Legend of Sangkuriang

There's a well-known legend of Sangkuriang that explains how Tangkuban Parahu came to be. This old story tells about a prince named Sangkuriang and his mother, Dayang Sumbi. The legend says that the volcano was formed when Sangkuriang failed to build a boat and a lake in one night, kicking the unfinished boat upside down.
