Mount Venamo (also known as Cerro Venamo in Spanish) is a mountain in South America. It stands right on the border between two countries: Guyana and Venezuela. This mountain is quite tall, reaching about 1,890 meters (or 6,200 feet) high. It marks the very westernmost point of Guyana. The mountain gets its name from the nearby Venamo River.

Understanding Mount Venamo's Identity
It's easy to get Mount Venamo confused with another mountain called Waukauyengtipu. These two mountains are often mistakenly thought to be the same. However, they are actually different tabletop mountains. Each mountain has its own unique name and location.
Why are these mountains often confused?
For a long time, people relied on older maps and tools to understand the geography of this area. In the 1960s, scientists like Julian A. Steyermark and G. C. K. Dunsterville explored the region. They gathered important information about Mount Venamo. However, the tools they had back then were not as precise as today's technology.
How modern technology helps
Today, we have modern satellite data. This technology helps us see the Earth's surface much more clearly. Thanks to satellites, we now know that Mount Venamo and Waukauyengtipu are indeed separate. Waukauyengtipu is located about 27 kilometers (or 17 miles) southeast of Mount Venamo. This new information helps us correctly identify and name each mountain.
