Mountainburg is a small town in Crawford County, Arkansas, United States. It's part of the larger Fort Smith, Arkansas area. In 2020, about 528 people lived there.

The town of Mountainburg was first planned in 1883. This happened when the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway built its train tracks through the area.

Mountainburg is located along U.S. Route 71. This road used to be the main way to travel through northwest Arkansas. Because of this, Mountainburg was a busy place for a long time.

However, a new highway, Interstate 49, was built to the west. This made Mountainburg a much quieter town. Today, the city park in downtown Mountainburg has two big dinosaur models. They have been there since 1980 and are a fun sight!

Just 8 miles (13 km) north of Mountainburg, you can find Lake Fort Smith State Park. This park is on the western side of the 1,400-acre (5.7 km2) Lake Fort Smith. It's a great place for outdoor activities.
