Mouvement des Entreprises de France facts for kids
The Mouvement des entreprises de France (say "moov-MAHN dayz ahn-tre-PREEZ duh FRAHNS"), often called MEDEF, is the biggest group for businesses in France. Think of it as a club for French companies. It helps them work together and have a stronger voice. MEDEF started in 1998. Before that, there was a similar group called the National Council of French Employers (CNPF), which began in 1946.
What MEDEF Does
MEDEF represents over 750,000 businesses in France. Most of these are small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This means they are smaller companies with fewer than 50 employees.
MEDEF works to speak up for businesses. They do this by talking to leaders and lawmakers. This is called lobbying. They do this at local, regional, and national levels in France. They also work with the EU across Europe.
MEDEF International helps French business leaders. They organize trips to other countries. These trips often go to developing countries. The goal is to help French businesses start projects there.
MEDEF also cares about "sustainable development". This means they want companies to think about the environment. They teach businesses that protecting the planet can also be good for their success.
