Laurence Parisot was born on August 31, 1959, in Luxeuil-les-Bains, France. She is a well-known French businesswoman. From 2005 to 2013, she led a big group for French businesses called the MEDEF. In 2003, Laurence Parisot became part of the main group that runs MEDEF. On July 5, 2005, she was chosen to be the head of MEDEF. She was the youngest person ever to lead this important business group. She was also the first leader to come from a service company, not a manufacturing one.

When she became the leader, Laurence Parisot said she wanted to help fight against people being out of work. She also wanted to make businesses a very important part of French society. She worked hard to encourage French lawmakers to create rules that would make it easier for companies to operate.

In 2007, she was invited to a special dinner at the White House in the United States. This dinner was hosted by U.S. President George W. Bush to honor the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy.

In 2013, Laurence Parisot wanted to change the rules of MEDEF so she could stay on as leader for longer. However, she was not able to do this. Pierre Gattaz then took over her role as head of MEDEF.

What She Did Next

After leaving MEDEF, Laurence Parisot continued her career. In 2014, she was interested in becoming the CEO of Électricité de France (EDF), a big French energy company. However, the job went to someone else. In 2018, she was appointed to lead the French part of Citigroup, a large bank from the U.S.
