Mugen Rao (born 20 October 1995) professionally known as MGR or Mugen is a Malaysian-Indian playback singer, songwriter and actor who has appears predominantly in Tamil films and television shows. He made his cinematic acting debut in 2018 in a Malaysian-indian film called Ghora, and later making his first Kollywood debut in the film Vettri (2021), where he played the title role. He rose to prominence after contesting in Star Vijay's reality programme Bigg Boss Tamil 3 (2019) he emerged as the winner of the reality show.

Career

Television

Mugen was well known for his appearance in the television drama Nee Yaar (2019) which was telecasted on TV2. In 2019 he won the 'Best TV Drama Actor'. He also acted in various different malaysian dramas such as "Sugamaana Sumaigal" (2018), "Agam Puram" (2017) and "Ippadiyum Pannalama" (2016).

He was one of the contestants in the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil 3 on Star Vijay. He also emerged as the winner of the show. Mugen was also listed by Chennai Times as one of the Chennai Times 30 Most Desirable Men 2020 which ranked him as 21.

Cinema

At the start of his film career, Mugen appeared in a malaysian-indian film called "Ghora" (2018) as the supporting actor. He also did more Malaysian films like "Haran" (2018) and Venpa (2019) playing as 'Yuvaraj Balakrishnan'. Later in 2020 Mugen signed up two films in Kollywood and playing the lead role in both of them. He made his first Kollywood debut film in Vettri, where he played the title role of the film and currently filimg a film called "Velan".

Music videos

He is the lead actor, director, lyricist in the music videos 'Ring eh Kaadhaley kanner.

'Kayalvizhi', 'Anbe Aaruyire', 'Pogiren', 'Abinaya', 'Maya', 'Yengaddi' 'Sathiyama' and 'Thedinen'under the label of IBP studios (Malaysia). He also collaborated with UK singer and Asuran fame TeeJay Arunachalam in musical video of Bandana Vol-1 (Zzz) collaborating many artists of world. Later he became a part of vocals in Dr.Kamal Hassan's Arivum Anbum music composed by Ghibran. He also became part of vocals in Pesu -Talk to me composed by B.Babusankar.
