Early Life
Prince Muhammed was born in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, on 21 March 1934. His father was King Saud, and his mother was Baraka Al Raziqi Al Alma'i. She came from a place called Asir in the southwest part of Saudi Arabia. Prince Muhammed also had a full brother named Saad bin Saud.
His Career
During his father King Saud's time as ruler, Prince Muhammed held many important jobs in the government.
He started his work as the chief of the Royal Court. This meant he was in charge of the king's official household. In 1953, he was put in charge of the Saudi Royal Guard Regiment, which protects the royal family.
Later, in December 1960, he became the Minister of National Defense and Aviation. This job meant he was responsible for the country's military and air force. He took over this role from his brother, Fahd bin Saud.
Prince Muhammed was also briefly the Minister of Finance in 1961 and 1962. This role involved managing the country's money. His time as Finance Minister ended on 31 October 1962.
Governor of Al Bahah
Prince Muhammed served as the deputy governor of the Al Bahah province until 1987. This meant he was the second-in-command for that region.
Then, from September 1987 to 2010, he became the main governor of Al Bahah province. He was in charge of the area. He later stepped down from this role because of health issues. His half-brother, Mishari bin Saud, took his place as governor.
Returning to Public Life
Prince Muhammed was a strong supporter of his father, King Saud. After a change in leadership where Crown Prince Faisal became the new king in 1964, Prince Muhammed showed his loyalty to King Faisal. He was the first of King Saud's sons to do this. This was likely because he was married to King Faisal's daughter, Princess Sara. After this, Prince Muhammed continued to hold important positions until 2010.
Other Roles
Prince Muhammed was a member of the Allegiance Council from 2007 until he passed away in 2012. This council helps decide who will be the next king. He was also part of the King Saud Foundation, an organization based in Jeddah. Besides his government work, Prince Muhammed was involved in various business activities.
