Mukh O Mukhosh (which means "The Face and the Mask" in Bengali) was a very important movie released in 1956. It holds a special place in history because it was the first ever Bengali-language movie made in what was then called East Pakistan. Today, that region is known as Bangladesh. This groundbreaking film was produced by Iqbal Movies and directed by Abdul Jabbar Khan.

A New Era for Movies

Mukh O Mukhosh premiered in East Pakistan on 3 August 1956. It was shown in big cities like Dhaka, Chittagong, Narayanganj, and Khulna. People were incredibly excited to see the first movie made in their own region. They rushed to the cinemas, making the film a huge success! During its first run, the movie earned about 48,000 rupees, which was a lot of money back then. This showed how much people wanted to see local films.
