Mullen was a small community that once existed in Yolo County, California. It is known as a "former settlement" because it was a populated place in the past, but it is no longer a town or village today.
Mullen was located about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) south-southeast of the city of Woodland. It was situated near the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, which were very important for travel and trade back then. The area where Mullen was located is about 69 feet (21 meters) above sea level.
In 1913, a book mentioned Mullen, along with another small community called Merritt. Both were described as farming towns. This means that most people living there likely worked in agriculture, growing crops or raising animals. These towns were also along the main road that cars used to travel between Davis and Woodland. Mullen continued to appear on maps until at least 1915.
