Multnomah Creek is a cool stream in northern Oregon. It's about 5 miles (8 kilometers) long. This creek starts high up on Larch Mountain in the Mount Hood National Forest.
The water from Multnomah Creek flows north towards the Columbia River Gorge. On its way, it creates the amazing Multnomah Falls. After the falls, the water flows into Benson Lake and then joins the mighty Columbia River.

Multnomah Falls: Oregon's Tallest Waterfall
Multnomah Falls is super famous and easy to visit. You can get there from the Historic Columbia River Highway or Interstate 84. This waterfall is actually made of two parts. It's the tallest waterfall in Oregon!
The Two Drops of Multnomah Falls
The upper part of the falls drops a huge 542 feet (165 meters). The lower part drops another 69 feet (21 meters). Together, they make a total drop of 620 feet (189 meters).
Exploring the Falls
There's a great hiking trail that lets you see the entire waterfall up close. It's a popular spot for visitors to enjoy nature.
History of the Name
The creek seems to be named after the Multnomah people. They were a Native American group who lived in this area. It's interesting to know that the historical name for the Willamette River was once the Multnomah River.
