Munia Ganguli is a brilliant Indian scientist. She is a biochemist and a biotechnologist. She works at a special research center called the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB).

Dr. Ganguli is famous for finding new and gentle ways to deliver medicines. These methods are "non-invasive," meaning they don't need needles or surgery. Her team successfully created a way to deliver medicine for skin problems. They use tiny particles, called "nanoparticles," made from small protein pieces (peptides). These nanoparticles carry genetic material (plasmid DNA) right into the skin. This method works well and doesn't seem to harm the skin. Dr. Ganguli holds two patents for these amazing processes she developed.

At IGIB, Dr. Ganguli has her own laboratory. Many research students and scientists work there with her. Her studies have been written about in many articles. A science website called ResearchGate lists 76 of her published works.

Working with Other Scientists

Dr. Ganguli is part of a group that represents IGIB in a special research project. This project connects chemistry with biology. She has also been on the advisory committee for a national seminar about Nano Science. This seminar was supported by the University Grants Commission.

She led an important project at IGIB. This project focused on "Nanomaterials and nanodevices for applications in health and disease." This means they looked at how tiny materials and devices can help with health and sickness. Dr. Ganguli has given many invited speeches. One was at the International Conference on Advances in Biological Systems and Materials Science in NanoWorld (ABSMSNW-2017). She also helped edit a special issue of the Science and Culture journal. This issue, published in January 2011, was about new discoveries in genomics and how they help with health and disease.

Awards and Recognition

In 2012, the Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India gave Dr. Ganguli a very important award. It was the National Bioscience Award for Career Development. This is one of the highest science awards in India. She received it for her great work in biosciences. More recently, in 2024, she was also recognized as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. This is a big honor that shows her important contributions to science.
