Murray City is a small village located in Hocking County, Ohio, in the United States. In 2020, about 341 people lived there.

History of Murray City
Murray City was officially planned out in 1873. It became an incorporated village in 1891. The village got its name from John Murray Brown. He was the person who first owned the land where the town was built.
John Murray Brown bought the land to create the town. In 1875, he built a hotel for the local workers. However, he sold his part of the community a few years later to a large coal company.
Murray City was once a very big coal mining town. It had more than 2,000 people living there. In the 1920s, the village even had its own semi-professional football team, called the Murray City Tigers. This team is now recognized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

Murray City is located along a stream called Snow Fork. Snow Fork is a small river that flows into Monday Creek.
