About Museum London

Museum London first opened its doors in 1940. It started as part of the London Public Library. Later, in 1989, it joined forces with the London Regional Art Gallery and the London Regional Historical Museum. This created the bigger museum we know today.

The building itself is quite special. It was designed by a famous architect named Raymond Moriyama. He also designed other cool places like Science North in Greater Sudbury and the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto.

What You Can See

Museum London has a huge collection of items. They have about 45,000 historical artifacts. These are like treasures from the past that tell us stories. They also have 5,000 pieces of art.

The art collection includes works by very famous Canadian artists. You can see art from Lawren Harris, who was one of the original members of the Group of Seven. Other artists featured include Kent Monkman and Edward Burtynsky. In 2004, the museum also received a collection of medical tools and items from the London Health Sciences Centre.

Museum Facilities

In 2018, the museum added a new part called the Centre of the Forks. This expansion helps the museum offer even more to its visitors. It's a modern space for learning and exploring.
