Myers's Rum facts for kids
Myers's Rum is a special kind of rum that comes from Jamaica. It is made by a company called Sazerac. This brand was named after its founder, Frederick Louis Myers, and has been made since 1879.
Myers's Rum is created using "pure Jamaican molasses", which is a thick, sweet syrup left over after making sugar. This molasses is then put through a process called distillation, which helps to separate and purify liquids. After that, the rum is stored in white oak barrels for up to four years. This aging process helps to give the rum its unique flavor and dark color.
This dark rum is often used as an ingredient in cooking. It can add a special flavor to many different kinds of recipes, both sweet dishes like desserts and savory meals.
A Change in Ownership
In November 2018, the company Diageo sold Myers's Rum to the Sazerac Company. This was part of a big deal that included 19 different brands. The sale was completed before the end of 2018. This change meant that Sazerac Company became the new owner and producer of Myers's Rum.
