Mykki Blanco (born April 2, 1986) is an American rapper, performance artist, and poet. She is also an activist. Mykki Blanco has worked with famous artists like Kanye West, Teyana Taylor, and Blood Orange.

Early Life and Creative Beginnings
Mykki Blanco was born in Orange County, California. When she was a child, she lived in San Mateo County, California. Later, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. She went to Enloe High School.
At 15, Blanco started a performance group called Paint In Consciousness Experimental Theater. This group won an Indies Spirit Award in Raleigh. This showed her early talent for creative arts.
When Blanco was 16, she moved to New York City. She also spent time in California. She later earned a full scholarship to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. However, she left college after two semesters in 2006. She also briefly studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City.
Music and Art Career
Mykki Blanco is known for her unique music and art. In 2011, she published a book of poetry. It was called From the Silence of Duchamp to the Noise of Boys.
In 2012, Blanco started her music career. She released an EP (Extended Play) called Mykki Blanco & the Mutant Angels. Later that year, she released a mixtape titled Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss. This mixtape featured music produced by several artists.
Blanco continued to release more music. In 2013, she put out her second EP, Betty Rubble: The Initiation. In 2014, she released the Spring/Summer 2014 EP. She also released her second mixtape, Gay Dog Food, which included a spoken word track with Kathleen Hanna.
Her first full album, Mykki, came out on September 16, 2016.
Mykki Blanco has collaborated with other musicians. She contributed to Teyana Taylor's song "WTP" in 2018. She also worked with Kanye West on a song called "Bye Bye Baby."
In June 2021, Blanco released her album Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep. This album was released through Transgressive Records. Her album Stay Close to Music was released in October 2022.
Artistic Style
The name Mykki Blanco started as a character for a YouTube video in 2010. This character then grew into her musical and performance art style. Mykki Blanco's name was inspired by Lil' Kim's alter ego, Kimmy Blanco. She gets ideas from many artists. These include Lil' Kim, Jean Cocteau, Kathleen Hanna, Lauryn Hill, and Rihanna.
