Myo Ko Ko San (Burmese: မျိုးကိုကိုစန်း; born 1 September 1994) is a famous model and beauty queen from Myanmar. She is known for being a transgender woman who won the title of Miss International Queen Myanmar in 2014. She also represented her country in a big international beauty pageant. Myo Ko Ko San is also a strong supporter of LGBT rights in Myanmar.
Early Life and Education
Myo Ko Ko San was born on September 1, 1994, in Mandalay, Myanmar. She was born as a boy and is the middle child of three siblings. From a very young age, she felt that her gender identity was different from the one she was assigned at birth. She started her journey to become who she truly is when she was about 15 years old, while still in school.
She studied civil engineering at Technological University, Mandalay. In 2017, she had a special surgery in Thailand to help her body match her true gender identity.
Career Highlights
In 2013, Myo Ko Ko San took part in a beauty pageant called Miss Rainbow Ribbon 2013. This event was specially for transgender women. She won the competition, which was held in Mandalay. Because she won, she was chosen to represent Myanmar in Miss International Queen 2014. This is one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world for transgender women.
She competed in Miss International Queen 2014 on November 7, 2014, in Pattaya, Thailand. She competed against contestants from 20 other countries. She did very well and earned the 1st runner-up award for her talent performance.
After the Miss International Queen 2014 pageant, Myo Ko Ko San became well-known as Miss International Queen Myanmar. She then started a successful career as a model.
In 2018, she received the ASEAN-LGBT Community Pride Awards. This award recognized her contributions and importance to the LGBT community in Southeast Asia.
Myo Ko Ko San also made history by competing in Miss Universe Myanmar 2022. She was the first transgender woman to ever participate in this pageant. She reached the Top 10, which was a big achievement.
