Early Life and Education
Myron Lizer was born in Ganado, Arizona. Before college, he worked in different retail jobs. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Fort Lewis College. After graduating, he worked as an accountant for a short time. Then, he started his own businesses.
Myron Lizer's Career
Myron Lizer owns an Ace Hardware store in Window Rock, Arizona. He is also a Baptist Christian. From 2016 to 2023, he led the school board for the Rehoboth Christian School in Rehoboth, New Mexico. He has also written articles for The Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper.
Political Journey
Myron Lizer is a Republican and holds socially conservative views. In the 2018 tribal election, he ran with Democrat Jonathan Nez. They won the election with 66% of the votes. This made Myron Lizer the Vice President of the Navajo Nation.
Supporting Tribal Communities
Lizer supports former President Donald Trump. He spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention. There, he talked about how Trump helped tribal communities. He highlighted efforts to address issues like Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. He also spoke about the COVID-19 pandemic on the Navajo Nation.
In 2020, he joined Franklin Graham at a Prayer March in Washington D.C. They prayed for the country at the World War II Memorial. In October 2020, he helped launch the Native Americans for Trump group. This event took place in Williams, Arizona. Donald Trump Jr. and Carlyle Begay were also there.
Running for Congress
In March 2022, Myron Lizer announced he would run for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He wanted to represent Arizona's 2nd congressional district in the 2022 election. However, he did not collect enough signatures to officially run.
Continued Political Involvement
Lizer supported Donald Trump again for the 2024 election. He joined Cherokee U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin on the campaign trail. At a rally in New Mexico, Lizer spoke directly to Native voters. He praised Trump's leadership. He said this kind of leadership would guide Indian Country and tribal nations forward.
After 17 Native American-majority counties voted Republican, Lizer shared his thoughts. He said it was "a long time coming." He explained that "foreign conflicts and the threats of wars looming" made people act. He added, "We don't want our children to have to go to some far away land and fight."
Personal Life and Heritage
Myron Lizer has a rich heritage. He is half Navajo through his father's family. He is also half Comanche through his mother's family. His clans are Naałání (Comanche People Clan) and Tó’áhání (Near The Water Clan). His maternal grandfather's clan is Naałání (Comanche People Clan). His paternal grandfather's clan is Tł’ááshchí’í (Red Cheek People).
