Being Native American can mean different things. It often involves having Native American or Alaska Native family. Legally, it can mean being a member of a tribe that the government recognizes. Each tribe has its own rules for who can be a member. Sometimes, people are included on this list if their family history and culture show they are Native American, even if they aren't officially enrolled in a tribe.
This section lists Native American politicians who have worked in the United States federal government. This includes roles in the President's team (executive branch) and in Congress (legislative branch).
