Jerry Ward (born July 19, 1948) is an American politician and businessman. He served in the Alaska State Legislature, representing his home state in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Early Life and Career
Growing Up in Alaska
Jerry Ward was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on July 19, 1948. He is an Alaska Native.
Military Service and Business
After his early life, Ward joined the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam War as part of the Navy Seabees. The Seabees are a special group that builds things for the Navy. After his time in the military, Ward worked in the real estate business.
Political Journey
Starting in the House of Representatives
In 1982, Jerry Ward decided to run for office. He was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives as a member of the Republican Party. He served in this role from 1983 to 1985.
Running for Lieutenant Governor
In 1990, Ward ran for Lieutenant Governor. He first won the primary election for the Alaska Independence Party. However, he and his running mate later decided to support former Governor Walter Hickel. Hickel and his new running mate won the election.
In 1998, Ward ran for Lieutenant Governor again. He was the running mate for John Howard Lindauer. Their campaign faced some challenges, and they did not win the election.
Serving in the State Senate
Jerry Ward was elected to the Alaska State Senate twice. He won elections in 1996 and again in 2000. During his time in the Senate, he worked on various issues important to Alaska.
Later Elections
In 2002, Ward ran for reelection to the State Senate but was defeated by Tom Wagoner. He ran against Wagoner again in 2004 but lost that election as well.
In 2006, Ward sought the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor once more. However, he was defeated in the primary election by Sean Parnell.
Involvement with National Politics
In 2016, Jerry Ward helped manage Donald Trump's presidential campaign in Alaska. After the election, he took a position in the Department of Education. He resigned from that role not long after.
