Avery Carl Frix is a politician and businessman from the Choctaw Nation. He has been a leader in the Oklahoma Senate, representing District 9, since November 2024.
Before that, he was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives for District 13 from 2017 to 2022. In 2022, he decided not to run for his House seat again. Instead, he ran for a seat in the U.S. Congress, representing Oklahoma's 2nd district.

Avery Frix: Early Life and Education
Avery Frix grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He went to the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 2016 with a degree in business, focusing on accounting.
Avery Frix's Political Journey
Serving in the Oklahoma House of Representatives
Avery Frix was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in November 2016. From 2019, he led the House Transportation Committee, which deals with roads and travel. In 2020, he was re-elected without anyone running against him.
Running for U.S. Congress in 2022
In March 2022, Frix announced he would run for a seat in the U.S. Congress for Oklahoma's 2nd congressional district. He was one of three people from the Choctaw Nation who ran for this position.
In the first election, he came in first place among 14 candidates. This meant he went to a second round of voting, called a runoff election, against Josh Brecheen. However, Frix lost the runoff election to Brecheen.
Joining the Oklahoma Senate in 2024
In 2024, Avery Frix was elected to the Oklahoma Senate. He was the only person who ran for the District 9 seat, so he won without opposition. He officially started his new role on November 13, 2024.
