Curtis McDaniel was born on January 17, 1952. He is an American politician from the state of Oklahoma. Mr. McDaniel used to serve in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He represented District 1, which covers McCurtain County, Oklahoma and part of LeFlore County.
In 2014, he ran for a seat in the Oklahoma Senate. This seat became open when another politician, Jerry Ellis, left. However, Mr. McDaniel was defeated by Joseph Silk, a candidate from the Republican Party.

His Early Life and Work
Curtis McDaniel was born in Hugo, Oklahoma, on January 17, 1952.
He went to Oklahoma State University and earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural education in 1975. Later, in 1998, he earned a master's degree in public administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Before he became a politician, Mr. McDaniel worked in public schools in Oklahoma. He was a teacher for vocational agriculture in several schools. He also worked as a principal for elementary, middle, and high schools in Smithville.
Mr. McDaniel has also worked as an auctioneer. He worked for OKC West Stockyards and for McDaniel Real Estate and Auction Company.

Curtis McDaniel was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2012. This was a special election to fill a seat after the previous representative passed away.
Since he was elected, Mr. McDaniel worked to improve areas like farming (agriculture), education, and tourism in Oklahoma. In 2013, he helped create a law to rename a highway in his district. He also suggested a rule to ban texting while driving. This idea was praised by the state's main newspaper.
