Bryce Edgmon grew up in Dillingham, Alaska. This is a town where he also worked as a commercial fisherman for over 20 years. He fished for salmon and herring. He was also the chairman of Choggiung Ltd. This company is an Alaska Native village corporation. These corporations help manage land and resources for Alaska Native communities.
Bryce Edgmon is part Aleut, which is an Alaska Native group. He was raised in a home where the Yup'ik language was spoken. He is married to Melody Nibeck. They have three children named Evan, Emma, and Magy. He still lives in Dillingham today. He studied at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. There he earned a degree in Business Administration.

Bryce Edgmon began his political journey by running for office in 2006. He challenged the person who held the seat before him, Carl Moses. The election was very close and ended in a tie. To decide the winner, they had to flip a coin!
Becoming Speaker of the House
In 2016, Bryce Edgmon's political party won many seats. Because of this, he became the Speaker of the Alaska House of Representatives. This was a big moment because he was the first Alaskan Native person to hold this important position in Alaska's history.
