Jay Robert Rodne was born on March 21, 1966. He is an American lawyer and a politician from the Republican Party. He used to be a member of the Washington House of Representatives. This means he helped make laws for the state of Washington.
He represented the 5th Legislative District. Jay Rodne has family roots in the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He was first chosen for the House in 2004. He decided not to run for re-election in 2018.

Jay Rodne's Career in Politics
Jay Rodne worked hard in the Washington House of Representatives. During the 2015–2016 legislative session, he was the main supporter for 13 new bills. A "bill" is a proposed law. Being the "primary sponsor" means he was the main person who introduced and pushed for these ideas to become laws.
His most recent bill that he helped create was HB 2453. This bill passed with everyone agreeing. It was designed to make sure state mental hospitals were managed better. He also worked on different groups called "committees." These committees focus on specific topics. His committees included Transportation, Health Care and Wellness, and Judiciary. On the Judiciary committee, he was the "ranking minority member." This means he was the most senior member from the Republican Party on that committee.
Jay Rodne's Military Service
Besides his work in politics, Jay Rodne is also a Colonel in the USMC Reserve. The Reserve is a group of military members who train regularly but are not always on active duty. They can be called upon when needed.
He was once the leader of the 4th Landing Support Battalion. This group is based in Fort Lewis, Washington. He served overseas in 2003 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Before that, during his active duty years, he was part of Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. He also served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm during the Persian Gulf War.
Public Statements and Discussions
After some attacks happened in Paris in November 2015, Jay Rodne made a post on Facebook. This post led to a lot of discussion. Later, he explained his thoughts further. He said that most of the world's 1.2 billion Muslims are peaceful. He added that if they live in America, they want to enjoy the freedoms of the country.
Jay Rodne's Lobbying Work
In April 2019, Jay Rodne started a new type of work. He registered as a "foreign agent." This means he works to represent the interests of a foreign country in the United States. He began to consult and lobby for the Kingdom of Cambodia.
He co-owns a consulting company with state senator Doug Ericksen. This company was paid to help arrange official visits between leaders from the United States and Cambodia. They also helped connect business leaders from both countries.
